Why We Ride

MOTOvational was born after five years of successful charity motorcycle rides inspired by the film Why We Ride, which was created by Bryan H. Carroll and James Walker.

Our Story

When Joseph Northrup, a member of the Why We Ride film crew, passed away from a brain tumor he had been battling since childhood, we decided that the future of our efforts to promote the good of motorcycling would be guided by the mission to raising funds and awareness for those facing life’s challenges and hardships. 2020 marks the our sixth year, to date we have raised over $40,000 to directly benefit kids suffering from brain cancer.

It's for the Kids

The money raised by those who who attend our annual Why We Ride to the Quail charity ride goes directly to those who need it the most, the medical researchers searching for a cure and the kids and their families dealing with this unimaginable disease.

Why Be A Sponsor

  • It is all for a great cause! We have partnered with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) to ensure the funds we raise go directly to life saving research and the families in need.

  • We have a strong history over the last six years of running a professional charity event, and stewarding the funds entrusted with us for great causes like the PBTF.

  • We are a federally registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable corporation, and your financial sponsorship may be tax deductible under current laws.

  • We are all-volunteer run, meaning more of your financial support goes to to supporting the ride and to the PBTF’s medical research and family support programs.

Some of the ways we’re making a direct impact are:

  • Provide researchers with genetic sequencing supplies to fuel critical breakthroughs in the treatment of kids’ brain tumors.
  • Sponsor a child’s participation in a lifesaving clinical trial for new therapies.
  • Providing Starfolio Resource Notebooks (created by the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation) that provide information and support following a child’s brain tumor diagnosis.
  • Help fund an Early Career Development grant to develop the best research talent in the field.
  • Send Survivorship Resource Guidebooks to survivors and their families to help them navigate life after treatment ends.
  • Send families to a weekend camp where they will meet and learn from other families who have children suffering from brain cancer.
  • Helping pay utility bills so families have one less worry during treatment and can focus fully on their child’s needs.
  •  Providing gas cards for a child’s trip to treatment.
